We rely on hundreds of volunteers each year

Who is an active volunteer at Naples Therapeutic Riding Center?

This information is for individuals who have completed the application process, attended orientation and training and have been invited to volunteer at NTRC.

Here you will find the following information:

  • A link to schedule your volunteer shifts – NTRC uses a web based scheduling system. This helps staff make sure that all lessons have the necessary number of volunteers.
  • This link to the therapeutic riding lesson schedule includes lesson times by class name and the pre-scheduled holidays when NTRC is closed for programs. Lessons are scheduled daily, except for Fridays and Sundays. Due to the heat and summer camps, the schedule for the summer months is limited (June through August). There are no therapeutic riding lessons in August and on certain holidays throughout the year.
  • Renewal paperwork – every volunteer must complete renewal paperwork annually. These forms can be downloaded below or picked up in the NTRC administrative offices.
  • Links for Training Videos – We want to make sure that all volunteers working in the programs have access to training refresher courses.

Additional Volunteer Opportunities – Not all volunteers at NTRC are sidewalkers or leaders. Some of our volunteers help with administrative, fundraising, barn and property duties. Please visit the Ways to Volunteer page to learn more about volunteer opportunities and how to get involved.

Inclement Weather Policy and Communications: When the heat index is over 100 degrees, lessons will be canceled due to the effect the heat and humidity has on the horses, riders and volunteers. When the wind chill is 45 degrees or lower, lessons will be canceled. If there is lightning or a strong threat of lightning, lessons will be canceled. Cancelations will be affirmed by the Program Director to Participants and Volunteers. Riders are not billed for cancelled lessons.

The NTRC Facebook Page is the primary location to learn about cancelled lessons. Additionally, volunteers and riders who are signed up for the cancelled class will be notified by phone or e-mail. If you suspect the weather will impact your schedule lesson, please visit NTRC’s Facebook Page, check your e-mail and/or phone for notifications.

Cancellations: If for some reason you are unable to attend your scheduled shift, please cancel your shift through the scheduling system. If you need to make a last minute cancellation, please contact NTRC by phone (239) 596-2988. This will give us time to prepare and schedule a replacement if necessary.
